Plunify Closes Round of Funding With Investment From Lanza techVentures

Capital to Be Used to Expand Sales, Technical Support, Marketing

LOS ALTOS, CA–(Marketwired – Nov 19, 2014) – Plunify® Pte. Ltd., provider of groundbreaking field programmable gate array (FPGA) software, today announced it completed a round of funding with an investment from Lanza techVentures, an early stage venture capital investment firm.

The investment will be used to grow Plunify’s sales and technical support channels and expand its marketing team to promote its InTime™ timing closure acceleration software for FPGA designs. Lucio Lanza, managing director of Lanza techVentures, will become a member of the Plunify board. Mark Templeton, partner-at-large at Lanza techVentures, will be an advisor.

“I was immediately impressed with Plunify’s product strategy,” notes Dr. Lanza, managing director of Lanza techVentures and this year’s recipient of the Phil Kaufman Award. “The engineering team has devised a clever machine learning technique that will make the software more and more intuitive over time.”

Mark Templeton, partner-at-large at Lanza techVentures, adds: “Plunify is really the first of a new and extremely exciting generation of EDA companies. By leveraging the massive power, low cost and convenience of cloud computing, they are enabling a novel style of design optimization that augments human designers in a highly effective way.”

Plunify’s InTime Timing Closure Acceleration Software

Plunify’s InTime timing closure acceleration software offers better results faster. The software analyzes a design and determines the best synthesis and place-and-route optimization strategies, considering correlations between the design structure, FPGA resources and user specified design constraints. The tool uses a variety of big data techniques to solve FPGA timing and optimization problems, and employs statistical modeling and machine learning to draw insights from the data to improve the quality of results. InTime’s learning constructs accumulate knowledge about a user’s design style and then apply that knowledge to new designs. And InTime continues to learn with each new design so the results improve with each use.

“Lanza techVentures will be more of a partner than an investor,” notes Harnhua Ng, Plunify’s chief executive officer. “Both Lucio Lanza and Mark Templeton already have provided invaluable advice and insights into the market. We welcome their experience and expertise.”
