Plunify developed EDAxtend, a method to run Design Space Exploration (DSE) tasks in parallel using the Amazon cloud. DSE is typically limited by compute resources and time, and is not scalable. This method automates cloud computing for chip design tasks, integrating the associated flow automation, job tracking/control, security and bandwidth optimization with existing Altera and Xilinx FPGA tools and workflows. A case study involving successful timing closure for an FPGA design demonstrates how this approach accelerates the workflow by at least 30 times.
